Strength Coach & FRC Mobility Specialist

Hi my name is Nhandi Scott and I am a strength coach born and raised here in Oakland! I’ve always been an active kid and participated in all kinds of sports. Some of those were soccer, baseball, figure skating and swimming, but my main focuses were soccer and track in high school. During my junior year of high school I tore my ACL and ended up doing a year and a half of rehab after reconstruction surgery and a second surgery to remove scar tissue. This was my first introduction to physical therapy and a big influence on my career aspirations.

After recovering from both knee surgeries, I felt pretty good but not like before. I wasn’t playing soccer in college like I’d wanted to and I slowly became less and less active. Before, my motivation to train was inspired by being a good athlete. Since I was no longer a competitive athlete, I didn’t know how to maintain my health, nor did I have the internal motivation to do so.

After graduating from undergrad at LMU I started working as a PT aide. There I was exposed to strength and conditioning, climbing, powerlifting, obstacle course racing and more. I started training at a parkour gym and since I’d always loved hiking, I started exploring and hiking even more. Believe it or not, it was only then that I realized that there are tons of fun ways to maintain your health and push your limits as an adult. I fell back in love with movement and from then on I’ve tried to live by example. I’ve also been able to continue my own rehab on my knee and I now feel stronger and more mobile than I ever have.

These days if I’m not working with clients or working out myself you can find me hiking, practicing parkour or exploring some other sport/form of movement! I also love music, going to the beach, my plant children and spending time with loved ones. Some of my new interests include gardening fruits and vegetables as well as self expression through fashion.
